On the Way
A Travelling Art Project by Deli Geli
“On the Way” is an ongoing art project in which Deli Geli’s small ceramic houses travel through cities, neighbourhoods, roads, and natural landscapes. Whenever I visit a new place, I take a small group of houses with me and photograph them in relation to their surroundings: beside old walls, among trees and flowers, on quiet windowsills, along unfamiliar streets, and in small corners that might otherwise remain unnoticed.
Some houses continue their journey with me. Others are left behind. Once placed somewhere in a city or in nature, a house becomes part of that place, at least for a while. It may remain quietly where it was left, or it may be discovered by someone passing by.
The Adventure Begins Here
Whenever a house is left somewhere along the way, I share clues on Deli Geli’s Instagram page. From that moment, the search begins. Anyone can follow the clues, explore the location, and look for the little hidden house.
No one knows what will happen next. Some houses are found quickly, some wait for days or weeks, and some may never be found at all.
This uncertainty is part of the adventure. Each house is left in the world without a predetermined ending, allowing its story to continue in a completely new way.
An Invitation to Look More Closely
We move through the world quickly, often focused on where we need to go or what needs to happen next. We follow familiar streets and pass countless small details without truly seeing them: the texture of an old wall, a flower growing through a crack, the shape of a tree, or the changing light on a window.
“On the Way” is an invitation to slow down, look a little more closely, and notice the small and unexpected moments of beauty around us.
The project is as much about the journey as it is about the houses themselves. “On the Way” is about everything between leaving and arriving: the places we pass through, the details we notice, the encounters we did not plan, and the small stories we discover along the way.
A Gift for Those Who See
The houses left along the way are not prizes. They are small, quiet gifts for those who look a little more closely, stay curious, and allow themselves to pause.
Anyone who finds a house can take it home. From that moment, the house begins another journey, carrying with it the story of the place, the search, and the person who found it.
Whether a house is discovered or quietly remains where it was left, it has already fulfilled its purpose: inviting us to look more carefully at the world around us.
A Shared Journey
“On the Way” is designed to grow beyond my own travels. Anyone who owns one of Deli Geli’s houses is invited to take it along and become part of the project.
It can travel through a familiar neighbourhood, a distant city, a forest, a garden, by the sea, along a mountain trail, or simply to a quiet corner that holds personal meaning. Participants do not need to leave their houses behind. They can place them temporarily within the landscape, photograph them, and bring them home again.
The place does not need to be famous or extraordinary. What matters is the connection between the house, its surroundings, and the person behind the photograph.

Each photograph becomes another part of the growing story of “On the Way,” connecting houses, people, places, and memories across different cities and countries.
Over time, these photographs will form a collective map shaped not only by geography, but by memories, discoveries, and our different ideas of home.
